For a long long time watercolor has been my go-to medium. Though, lately I've been having some trouble layering my watercolors. I'm probably just impatient, but I also remembered that there's a tiny little box of gouache paint in the closet!
According to DickBlick's website, they define gouache as:
"an opaque watercolor paint. Whereas transparent watercolors allow you to see the "white" of the paper below the paint, gouache can be applied in solid colors. This allows an artist to paint in layers from dark to light."
There we go! Problem solved.
Gouache is perfect because I can still use them just as I use my watercolors, except they have a very fast drying time and are perfect for thick layering. If you have never used Gouache before here are a couple nice videos that I watched before working with this new medium. If you are a visual learner like me, it was really helpful to see these tutorials.
P.S. Above & below are two little gouache paintings I did the other night! Feel free to message me if you are interested in an art print!
